Vintage Christmas Fireplace
I can’t believe Christmas is here again!
And this Christmas, I have a little advice for you. Get to know your fireplace. Maybe it’s the best place to curl up next to a warm fire with a glass of wine after work, but maybe it’s cold and drafty. Maybe you paint the walls around it or put up prints to hide the brick. Or maybe there are already stockings hanging there, or maybe your fireplace becomes an afterthought amidst all the other Christmas decor and errands you have to run.

For me, our fireplace is the heart of our home. And quite literally because it sits dead center in the middle of everything else. No matter where you stand downstairs, you can see a part of the fireplace.
Because of that, the fireplace is always the FIRST thing I decorate for the holidays, and it is always my absolute favorite place to gather ’round. The cozy fire, wooly stockings, and overall joy it brings us is parallel to none (yup, even the tree!)
By the way… before we dive in… I am SO dang excited to be participating in another Bloggers Best Home Tour this Holiday Season! If you are jumping on from Leen’s blog over at Sand Dollar Lane… welcome! SO happy to have you here!
Christmas Fireplace Decor
Some years I have majorly struggled in getting the fireplace and mantel to look just right for Christmas. In 2019 and 2020, I probably went through 10 iterations of decor before I got it to look how I wanted.
But this year, I got it right on the FIRST try. I knew I wanted to incorporate the vintage ornament wreath that my mom and I made last Thanksgiving. And to really make it pop, I mounted it on the DIY shim art I made earlier this year. My mom had the amazing Idea to paint the shims black to really make the wreath the standout piece, and I just LOVE how it came together!
If you analyze (which obviously you aren’t going to do!) my Christmas decor over the years, you’ll see I’ve gone from more neutral/traditional Christmas colors to colorful, FUN, vintage-inspired decor. As much as I love neutral Christmas in other people’s homes, the color and whimsy of vintage decor just sparks so much joy for me. So naturally, I really leaned into that this year!
I also found some sparkly pink bottle brush trees at Walmart this year for TWO DOLLARS each (Target sold similar ones last year for a whopping $14.99!). I just couldn’t resist them! Pink is my favorite color, and since I decided to really lean into the vintage and color this year, even more so than last year, they were just perfect for the mantel.
I honestly can’t believe I added not one bit of greenery to the fireplace/mantel space this year, but I’m just loving how it looks! The gold metallic tree in the vintage Santa punch bowl was the perfect addition to the hearth as well.
I usually only add my white stockings to the mantel, but because of all the metallic gold I used this year, my few years old Anthropologie stockings were a GREAT addition. Those pink yarn poms are also from Anthro a few years back. I just tied them on the plain white stockings for some extra interest and whimsical charm.
And lastly, my letterboard from House Hathaway was perfect next to the mantel. After the past couple of years, “the weary world rejoices” seemed like the perfect saying so really sit in gratitude for a while. But of course, I can change it up as the season goes on if I like!
Those cutie gold stars are from Amazon and I linked them in this post for you. They are super fun and very inexpensive!
And of course, I added about a million twinkle lights to the space, because you can NEVER have enough twinkle (where’s the lie?!)
I’m also still so in love with our new flooring and the art decor star tile on our hearth! (Did you notice those old white floors in the 2019 Christmas mantel pic?!)
While I absolutely loved my Christmas fireplace decor the past couple of years, I think this version is my favorite. It’s the most ME, which has been really lovely to hone and craft more precisely over years past as my style has grown and evolved in this blogging and influencer space!
Which version is your favorite? I’d love to know in the comments below – no wrong answer… because honestly, they are all bomb.com! 😉
